1965 Sunbeam Tiger Roadster 289 CI, 4-Barrel 5-Speed Manual Transmission with Black and White Racing Stripes. Ferrari Inspired Maroon Seats, Hand crafted Head Rest. Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby outdid themselves when they created a big engine roadster by stuffing a Ford V8 260 CI, and later a 289 CI engine into a Sunbeam, hence called the Tiger! Back in the day, as they say, this was affectionately known as the poor-man's Cobra Roadster. And what a specimen of that quintessential roadster we have for you. There are only a few Tigers left for us to chose from today. Many reincarnated to their original specs, but most were slightly modified to bring the car up to present day drivability standards for enjoyment as first intended, a fast sporty roadster. This Tiger Roadster presented here is that and more than what you would expect to find in most upgrades. Just place yourself in the driver seat of this super modified Tiger Roadster and imagine driving on those old curvy and narrow roads of yesteryear. Better yet, let's thank Miles and Shelby for actually creating this fast, fun-to-drive Tiger. Speaking of modified, this Tiger Roadster is now as close to a racing machine as one could get with its super high gloss black finish, topped with white racing stripes. Under the functional air scooped hood rests a slightly cammed 289 CI engine with a Holly 4-barrel. All connected to a 5-speed manual transmission and a Dana rear-end. This Tiger sits on Ford GT wheels. For stopping power, it has 4-wheel disc brakes and the traditional braking adjustment to allow fluid transfer to the front or back brakes as the racers of yesterday preferred. Moving to the cockpit with the Ferrari inspired maroon seats and functional sanctioned racing harness that adds to an overall sporty look. The mahogany dash with all functioning gauges accentuated with the original type wooden steering wheel completes the stylish interior. The unique headrest was handcrafted to fit the body and adds tremendously to the Roadster type appearance. The Roadster does come with a new convertible top in the box along with the top mechanism.
